Jill the Jellyfish

Jill was not like all of the other jellyfish. Jill hated

her tentacles. She hated that she hurt people and

other animals. Jill did not want to sting anyone.

But sometimes, when she swam by them, one of

her tentacles would get near a human or animal

and sting them. This made them so mad at Jill, but

Jill couldn’t help it! Jill decided that she would only

play with other jellyfish for now. She knew she

couldn’t play near the humans until she learned to

control her tentacles. Her sister

promised to help her learn how to

control them. She could not wait

to learn. She loved playing in the

waves near the humans, but she

didn’t love hurting people.

Jellyfish
Jellyfish are a very special type of ocean animal.
Their bodies are soft on the top and shaped like
an umbrella. They also have tentacles that hang
under their bodies. Sometimes, these tentacles
can sting people and animals. Jellyfish can be
transparent, which means you can see through
them. They do not have a brain. Jellyfish eat
other animals, such as tiny fish, plankton, and fish
eggs. Although they have the word fish in their
name, jellyfish are not a type of fish. These
animals have been in oceans around the world for
millions of years. They even lived on
Earth before dinosaurs. They can
still be found in oceans all over
the world today.
