Essay:
The issue
Malou explains to the student nurse that she has discovered that she is pregnant, but she isn’t ready to have a
baby. The pregnancy was accidental, and no one knows about it. She isn’t ready for marriage and doesn’t want to quit
school to take care of the baby. Also, her parents are traditional and wouldn’t understand. Malou’s friend tells her she
should have an abortion, but Malou is against abortion and cant imagine taking the life of an unborn baby.

Questions:
1. Is abortion OK in a case like Malou’s?
2. Should abortion be available to anyone who wants one?
3. Who has the right to decide whether to have an abortion?
4. Under what conditions should abortions be permitted?
