ENGLISH 102 GRADE CHART

HOW ARE GRADES DETERMINED?

Most of the work you submit will be completed and submitted in Cengage MindTap. Please use the curriculum guide and due dates
as your roadmap for your assignments. It is also the student’s responsibility to make sure assignments have been submitted
properly.

Grades are determined on a TOTAL POINTS system. This means that all assignments will have a points value. You will have graded
activities like quizzes, homework, discussion forums, assignments and writing assignments. You can see a list of all assignments in
the Grade Center in your Blackboard course. The overall course grade will be determined by following breakdown:

20 pts Bridge the Gap

197 pts Module 1: Elements of Argument

132 pts Module 2: Conduct Research

204 pts Module 3: Document and Integrate Sources

330 pts Module 4: Develop an Argumentative Project

100 pts Close the Loop

Communication Points: You will earn between 40-100 communication points throughout the semester.

*983 + communication points = Total Points

* I do reserve the right to add a quiz or assignment or edit a quiz or assignment during the semester, which may affect the total
points possible in the course. In addition, I sometimes change a graded activity to a bonus activity, which can also affect the total
points possible in the course.

HOW DO I SEE MY GRADES?

For our final grade in class we will use the Blackboard Grade Center. However, the majority of our work is done in
MT. This means you can use the Progress App in Mindtap to see your score and grade at any point in the semester.
You will be able to figure a running total of your grade at any time throughout the semester by viewing total points
earned out of total points assigned. Grades are synced between our Mindtap Course and the Blackboard Grade
throughout the semester.
