Three of the universal characteristics of a hero is they are born during dark times, their life is
usually at risk and they are usually raised by someone other than their family.
2. sagas, epics, legends and folktales.
3. Trickster,Threshold Guardian, Shadow, Hero, Herald, Mentor and Shapeshifter
4. The twelve parts of the heroic journey are the ordinary world, the call to adventure, the refusal
of the call, meeting with the mentor, crossing the threshold, tests and enemies, approach to the
inmost cave, the ordeal, the reward, the road back
5. Heroes importance in human psyche goes beyond being role models; they luster our journey
as society; and they are an inspiration to upgrade our world

1. I think some people deserve to become heroes, such as the firefighters and good police
2. A Lot of the struggles that heroes go through are things that everyone goes through. Everyone
has ambitions and priorities, getting these done can make you your own hero.
3. I do think some people deserve to be called heros like those in 9/11 or ER doctors but i also
believe there are those who don't get enough appreciation.
4. I think the face threshold guardians we face are things such as depression. I think the threshold
guardians I have had to face are trying to figure out what I want out of life or school
5. I believe it would the shapeshifters because they are known as living weapons and are forever
changing. With a villain, you know what to expect which is less scary that never knowing who
or what is coming for you.

1. Do you believe most people who become heroes are destined to become heroes, or do you believe anyone can become a hero?

2. A hero’s journey is often a search for something of great importance. It may be an ideal, a question that must be answered, or

an item of great importance. Often the heroes neglect all else until they have found it. How do people’s individual journeys

through life mirror this same search? What do you seek that is important?

3. In our society, people often gain hero status based on their accomplishments rather than on their character. People are often

looked up to because they are rich or famous Do you think these people deserve to be labeled heroes?
4. The heroes of myths and legend often must face threshold guardians in order to advance on their journey. How does this

parallel real life? What are some threshold guardians you have had to face to advance on your journey?

5. The shapeshifter and the villain are both trying to stop or even kill the hero and prevent him from carrying out his destiny.

Which do you think is more harmful to the hero’s journey? Why?
