Embassy of Switzerland in Indonesia

The Embassy in Switzerland in Indonesia is the official representation of Switzerland and covers all matters
concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political,
economic and financial affairs, legal arrangements, science, education and culture. The Embassy promotes the
Swiss economy in Indonesia, Swiss exports and tourism. It implements the Swiss economic cooperation and
development strategy in Indonesia. The Ambassador is also accredited to the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN) and to Timor-Leste. The Embassy is actively involved in implementing the ASEAN-
Switzerland Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.

In order to strengthen our team we are currently looking for an Indonesian national for the position as

Cultural Affairs and Tourism Promotion Officer

Your duties and responsibilities:
In the context of strengthening relations between Indonesia and Switzerland and a significant increase of tourism
to Switzerland, the post holder will organize cultural events and promote tourism to beautiful Switzerland. He/she
will report to the Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy and be a member of the Embassy’s diplomatic
team. He/she will focus on the following tasks:

 Culture: Promote Swiss culture and art in Indonesia, by developing and realizing successful cultural
events and networking with cultural stakeholders in Indonesia (40%)
 Tourism promotion: Promote Switzerland’s positioning in Indonesia as a premium holiday and congress
destination, by proactively developing marketing events for travel agents as well as media relations,
and identifying new communication channels and opportunities (30%)
 Communication: Contribute to the Embassy’s social media and other media communication (5-10%)
 Administration: Execute relevant administrative tasks (5-10%)
 Networking: Establish and maintain a network of contacts and partners to facilitate cooperation on
innovative cultural and tourism promotion and events, and with media, influencers
 Contribute to tasks of the diplomatic team (10-15%), which may include contributing to the organization
of official visits and Embassy events

Our selection criteria:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

 Candidate should have a university degree, ideally but not exclusively in communication, art or
languages
 Prior experience in social media and public communication for a company or organization is a plus
 Proven experience in organizing cultural, tourism promotion or similar events
 Excellent organizational skills (ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines under pressure and manage
competing responsibilities) and achievement orientation
 Excellent written and spoken English (essential)
 Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia
 Very good IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Social media tools)
 Communicative and outgoing personality, ability to connect and work well with others
 Candidate must be energetic, pro-active, self-motivated, and service-focused
 Candidate must be self-driven, able and willing to pro-actively and creatively identify, develop and
manage cultural and tourism promotion events, and lead them to success
 German and/or French language skills is an advantage
 Prior international exposure and knowledge of Switzerland is an advantage
