Our SMART System covers an algorithm called D-Algorithm this algorithm used at first
simple mathematic rules that were suitable for the purpose of lower load of intersections
but started to be outdated with the development of dense road network and increasing
number of vehicles.
The purpose of this project is to develop a series of systems model for traffic passing
through a 4-way intersection, controlled by traffic light. We will assume that arrangement of
traffic lights and road lanes is fixed and that the lights switch from red to green to amber in
a regular repetitive.
The target market of the proposed production of the SMART Traffic Light is the busy
intersections of Deparo, Caloocan City. One of the big problems is the poor design
of the traffic light system. Most areas don't have a viable plan for traffic signal
operation, don't have the staff to monitor traffic before and after normal work
hours, and don't conduct regular reviews.
b) Demand Analysis
Deparo recorded a total population of 98,166 persons in the 2015 Census. The
population of Deparo grew from 6,757 in 1990 to 98,166 in 2015, an increase of
91,409 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate of
3.74%, or an increase of 17,235 people, from the previous population of 80,931 in
2010.
We can assume that half the population owns a car or a transport for business thus
having a number of 49, 083 car owners. The problem with the roads in Deparo,
Caloocan is that it is heavily commercialized already thus not having the any road
widening operations anymore and with these number of car owners, Deparo
definitely needs SMART Traffic Light.
