My concept for a short film is a thriller, the narrative is about a young man who is taking his dog for

a walk through the woods one morning. The walk starts out quite pleasant, although it is cold the
sun is still shinning and everything seems peaceful, the character seems happy. As they get deeper
into the woods the trees start to block out the sunlight and everything gets a bit darker, this is when
the mood will change as the character will start to notice strange things. The first thing he finds is a
jacket laying on the floor but he thinks nothing of it and hangs it up on a tree for someone to find
and carries on with the dog walk. A bit further down the track he sees a snapped tree branch but
again he thinks nothing of it and carries on with his walk once again. The next thing he sees is two
lines in the dirt that looks like car tracks but are too close together, at the end of the tracks is
someone’s shoe, at the point the character suspects that something is wrong but then his dog sniffs
at the shoe and then runs of into the woods, he chases after the dog and as he does he sees blood
splattered on leaves and a bloody hand print on a tree. He comes to a stop at a small clearing where
his dog is stood next to a dead body, at this point the character suddenly realises what has
happened and how all of the strange things he has seen are connected, a vison of what happened
flashes through his mind. He is snapped out of his vision by the sound of his dog barking, he is scared
and confused but the dog continues barking and he turns around to find the murderer stood behind
him holding a knife, the character will be in pure shock and then the production will end.

The reason I am making this production is because I am trying to entertain and shock people this is
why I chose to create a short film that is a part of the thriller genre. Also this genre appeals to a wide
age range of audiences but is something that my target audience is particularly interested in, my
target audience is people aged 25-40 also known as millennials. They are interested in their families
and care a lot more about other than themselves, this is why I included the dog in my production as
they are often considered members of the family, and this is also why I did not make the main
character the victim of the story. Millennials are also unfazed and very strong about most things, this
is the reason that the character ignores the signs of something bad happening until it is staring him
in the face. Some of their favourite activates to do are exercise and be out in nature so this would
make a dog walk in the woods seem appealing to them.
