Idea
I am going to be making an Action/ Thriller short film.

Outline:
A crew of criminals go on a heist, there is chaos and they all get split up, they regroup and
put together what happened.

Detail:
My idea starts out with a crew of criminals going over the end of their plan for a heist in their
base, they finalise everything then set out to do the heist. You do not get to see what
happened in the heist as I am going to use a non-linear narrative so the scene after they go to
do the heist is when they come back from it. The leader of the crew burst in through the door
and shouts something into the room, the camera pans around to reveal the other members of
the crew are also back, they are all sweaty and out of breath as they have just escaped the
police. The leader asks what happened and one of the crew exclaims "I got shot!", then then
proceeds to tell the story of what happened to him after they left the bank, this triggers a flash
back. He explains as he was in a gun fight whilst he was running from the police, one of them
hit him in the side of his body but he still managed to get to the get away car and drive off, as
he was on his way back one of the other crew members jumped out from under a bridge and
got in the car with him. It cuts back to the crew in their base, the leader asks the other
member how he ended up under a bridge which makes him tell his story and causes another
flash back. He says "when they left the back he ran for his life but the police were hot on his
tail so he had to hide in a bush to lose them, they searched for a while but eventually they
gave up so he started to walk back towards base when the other crew member drove past and
picked him up". When he finishes his story it return to the base where the crew member asks
the boss how he got back, he says " well it was close", he tells his story which causes another
flash back. He says " when they left the back he ran for his life but there were lots of police
on him because he had the money and they eventually caught him but he managed to escape
with the money and make it back". Each flash back will have a voice over from the character
saying what happened, when the leader has his flash back what he says in the voice over will
be different to what the flash back is showing because he is lying to his crew and he did not
escape the police he told them he would help them catch the rest of his crew for his own
freedom. Once the audience know what is happening it will cut back to the crew in their base
where they are all happy as they think they got away with the money but then a moment later
the police burst through the door with their guns drawn. The crew members reach for their
guns but then it cuts to an outside shot of the base and all you hear is lots of gun shots which
leaves the ending on a cliff-hanger.

I have taken a lot of inspiration from Quinten

Tarantino’s film Reservoir Dogs; I really like the
Narrative structure of this film.
