Development of Embankment Asset Management System –

A New Initiative in Water Resources Department
While the Asset management in Road Sector
is known concept in India for quite some time,
the Asset Management in Water sector is
newer. Asset Management in Water Sector in
India has been primarily conceptualized by
the World Bank at end of the year 2011. The

Smart Cities:
An opportunity to transform Indian cities into global destinations
The government of India has envisaged a
Mission to develop 100 smart cities within
duration of five years (FY 2015-16 to FY 2019-
20). With the identified smart city goals and
concepts, the Government of India has
selected 100 cities through a selection
process in Stage 1, out of which 20 cities are
selected for financial grant and fast track
implantation through a selection process in
Stage 2.

LASA has been awarded Three Smart City

Smart City Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh

As per mandate of Smart City Proposal after an
extensive Citizen Engagement in the proposal,
Tirupati has chosen City Extension (Greenfield
Development), as the option is suitable for cities
with a robust economic base, with a demand for
urgent expansion of commercial and residential
space. The City Improvement (Retrofitting) option
addresses a larger area of the city and focusses on
bridging the critical gaps in infrastructure and also
achieves higher standards of efficiency in the
delivery of civic services. It is the right choice for a
city like Tirupati where the gaps in civic amenities Funds available in existing/proposed and other

Delegation from Mozambique visits Toronto

On March 19th a Mozambique delegation visited Toronto to explore
approaches to constructing infrastructure. John Farrow, Chair LEA Group,
was invited by the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service to make a
presentation on LEA/LASA's experience and the lessons arising from PPP
projects in India and Canada. The delegation knew of the Firm's involvement
in Mozambique and was impressed by the presentation. The Canadian
Trade Commissioner from Maputo requested that when next a senior
member of the firm was visiting Maputo he be advised, so that a similar
presentation could be arranged for a larger audience.
