Globalization encourages the pursuit for individuality, originality, and uniqueness. The image of
"national" as the primary source for identity is weakened while categories in religion, ethnicity,
language, gender, social class and sexual orientation coming across national boundaries are
strengthened, which caused expanding debates regarding new conceptions of citizenship brought
by the emergence of cultural hybridizations, diasporic communities and dissociation of cultural
issues from geographical territories.
New technologies of communication play a big part in the successive phase of globalization.
However, new technologies like the Internet, give the impression of actually making time and
space disappear since communication and transactions may happen instantaneously by just a
click or touch in any technological device.
There are international companies that produce goods which are acceptable for some countries,
but not in the countries where they are located. These instances affect mostly developed and
developing nations which can create problems politically and socially.
