Work Methodology for clearing and grubbing of trees and shrubs

Setting-out

•Identify the area where the activity is to be carried out. The engineer shall establish the
limits of the work and designate all trees, shrubs, plants and other things to remain. Trees
identified for tree cutting shall remain until further instructions by the owner.

Clearing and grubbing

•All surface objects and all tress, stumps, roots, and other protruding obstructions, not
designated to remain, shall be cleared and or/grubbed, including mowing as required except
as provided below:

•Except for trees marked for cutting, all surface objects including grass, stumps, roots and
other protruding obstruction not designated to remain shall be cleared and/or grubbed.

•Areas to be graded shall be cleared of all vegetation; all stumps and roots larger than
50mm (2 inches) diameter shall be removed.

•In all areas covered by cogon/talahib, wild grass and other vegetation, top soil shall be cut
to a maximum depth of 600mm below original ground surface to remove the roots and
unsuitable materials, or as designated by the owner.

•Perishable objects and other organic materials shall be removed and disposed off to
designated disposal.

•Except in areas to be excavated, stumps holes and other holes shall be backfilled with
suitable materials and compacted to required density.

Stripping

•Top soil of the areas to be stripped as indicated. Shall be removed at the depth that the
Engineer requires. Stripped soil shall be at least 150mm in depth.

•Stripped soil shall be transported, deposited in stock pile, at approved location. Top soil
shall be kept separated from other excavated materials.

•Top soil shall be completely removed to the required depth from any designated area prior
to the beginning of regular excavation for foundation.

•Areas below the design elevation shall be back filled with cut materials or imported
materials comply with the contract requirements for subgrade.

•Fill materials shall be compacted 95% of the modified dry density (ASTM D1557) of the soil.
