Message & Launching of AAAC

Good morning!

At the outset, I would like to acknowledge the presence of some colleagues

from the university, thank you for being with us in this significant event
today. Also, I am commending the campus GAD focal person, Dr. Remelyn
Bautista, and the college GAD focal persons for spearheading this activity.

Let me start this talk with a strong statement, I want you to repeat it after me:
“WE WON’T KEEP QUIET”. That doesn’t mean, though, that you will be
noisy during the whole duration of this activity. Saying that “we won’t keep
quiet” means that from now on we will not keep quiet anymore whenever
anyone from among us becomes a victim of sexual abuse and other forms of
abuse. “We will not keep quiet” until justice will have been served to
perpetrators.

Let me borrow the words of Christine Tsai to express my personal advocacy.

She said, “The change I want to see is a start-up environment where
everyone, regardless of gender and background, feels welcome and safe;
where sexual harassment or discrimination will not impede great talent from
producing great impact.” Indeed, “we will not keep quiet” in order to
ensure that this campus remains a safe place for all of us.

In order to achieve this, I am honored, gentlemen and ladies, to launch in this

campus today the campaign of the University Anti-Abuse Advocacy
Committee (AAAC). The AAAC is tasked to create a peaceful environment
that is free from Sexual Harassment and other forms of Abuse. They are all
here to help you understand how all of us can become part of the advocacy to
stop any forms of harassment in this university.

Remember, from now on “We won’t keep quiet!”

Thank you and once again Good morning!
