Fall is now upon us as we look forward to a new year. Treasurer: Mary Claire Welch

Gamma look forward to another year in Eta Zeta Chapter.
We start this year in Eta Zeta Chapter with a new TSO
President, Mrs. Patti Belknap and our new Area 9
Coordinator, Mrs. Marylin Nease. We welcome and
congratulate them as they begin the 2019-2021 Biennium
in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Our focus for Eta Zeta Chapter this year is MEMBERSHIP. August
During our 2019 Planning Meeting in July, The SPA or Elaine Thomas August 8

The Texas State Organization’s 90th State

Convention took place in Arlington, Texas, June 20 – Eta Zeta Chapter members who attended the 90th State
Convention in Arlington, Texas.

took place. The keynote address was given by The
Delta Kappa Gamma Society International,
President, Mrs. Cathy Daugherty. The Passing of the

lovely evening and event.

The May meeting celebration was held at the
Highland Park Cafeteria, May 13, 2019. Our guest
speaker was our TSO President (2017-2019) Dr. Jo
Murphy. She was delightful and we were happy to
have her join us, as we celebrated the Anniversary
of DKG and the birthday of Eta Zeta Chapter. She
spoke to us about Membership Goals and the
importance of building bridges and leaving legacies.
Beverly Leonard, our Recording Secretary received
the 2019 Chapter Achievement Award. The award
was presented by Bradley Sue Howell, Chairman of
the Achievement Award Committee.
Precious Craddock (Madison High School, Dallas
ISD) and Amy Garcia (West Mesquite High School)
were presented with our 2019 Grant-In-Aid
Scholarships. Thank you to Lisa Bagley and Evelyn
Hamilton, who worked to identify the two deserving
young ladies.
We closed our meeting with The Recommitment
Ceremony acknowledging and stating The Seven
Purposes of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Get Reacquainted at the
Annual Salad Supper 2019
Our annual Eta Zeta Salad Supper was held on
August 26, 2019 at the home of Eta Zeta member,
Beverly Leonard, in Mesquite, Texas. The
members were excited to see one another after
the summer months. Chapter member, Evelyn
Hamilton, led members in a fun and informative
Ice Breaker in which members shared four things
about themselves. The supper was delicious, as
always. Then it was on to our business meeting
which was very successful. The members are
looking forward to an exciting and productive
year! A big “Thank You” to Beverly Leonard who
graciously opened up her home to host this
meeting.

Community Partners of Dallas’ Rainbow Room

The Community Partners of Dallas’ Rainbow

Room is our chapter’s local project. As a
nonprofit in Central Texas, Partnerships for
Children leads a collection of programs that
offer resources, support, and comfort for foster
children and families in our community. Below
is a wish list of items they need on an ongoing
basis. Please donate if you can. They collect
donations throughout the year. Thank you in
advance for your donations!
Rainbow Room Needs:
Clothing: 2T-5T toddler clothing for boys and girls
Undergarments: Infant socks and toddler socks
Shoes: Sizes 7, 8, 9, and 10 tennis shoes for boys
and girls
Formula: Basic formulas including Similac Advance
Diapers: Diapers in sizes preemie, newborn, 1,
5, and 6, boys and girls pullups, and wipes
Hair Products: African American hair products
Household Cleaning Supplies: Clothing detergent,
Windex, paper towels, dish soap, floor soap
Books: Baby board books
Toys: New, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages
10-18 for birthday gifts (Lego’s, scrapbooking
materials, craft kits, sports balls, etc.)
Child Proofing Supplies: Outlet covers, cabinet
locks, baby gates
Baby Items: Baby wash, baby lotion, bottles,
pacifiers, receiving blankets, diaper rash cream
