Why is Plating important ?

Metal plating is a surface covering of a metal used to inhibit tarnishing of metal

Tarnishing – A ‘chemical reaction’ of metal with pollutants (eg. Air, water, sulphur
gases etc. ) that leads to the jewellery tarnishing (turning black) and hence losing its
lustre.

How can tarnishing be reduced?
