 General Objective(s): Students will be able to use the simple past tense of regular verbs.
 Students Performance Objectives (SPO): By the end of the lesson, SS should be able to:
 Recognize the use and form of the simple past tense of RV;
 Use the target structure by providing exchanges in the exploitation stage.
 Material(s): Textbook, cue cards and BB.

2 Warm-up
minutes -T greets SS Greeting
-T: Welcome to my class.
-T asks one of the SS to write the date on the BB.
25 Presentation:
minutes - T sets the scene and creates a need for SS.
- T: Today is………… Yesterday was…………… Setting the scene
-T tries to elicit information about the tenses used from SS.
-T: Which verb do we have in both sentences? And tense?
-SS provide their answers.
-T writes the title of the lesson on the BB.
Exchange:
a. Hi there, how is everything? Contextualization
b. Hi, everything is fine so far. Why?
a. I just wanted to ask you and know that you’re fine.
b. Oh, yeah sure. Did you want anything else?
a. No, that’s all. See you.
-T asks SS to read the exchange and underline the verbs. Then focus on the S.

Form:
Regular form: Subject + bare infinitive + -ed
NB: Negative form: subject did + not + bare infinitive
Interrogative form: Did+ subject + bare infinitive (Yes/no questions).
Use
-T presents the use of simple past and writes it on the BB.
 We use the simple past to express past actions/events. It usually comes
with past time expressions like yesterday, some time ago, last year,
when I was a boy, etc…
Checking comprehension
- I cook couscous yesterday.
-T: What do you think? => SS: Wrong. Negative
-T: Good. So what should we say? => SS: I cooked couscous yesterday. checking
- I will play basketball last week. => T checks Ss’ comprehension.
10 Practice:
minutes -T asks SS to complete the following sentences.

-T asks SS to do the exercise 4 on page 95.

23 Production:
minutes - T provides SS with cue cards and asks them to make exchanges using the
target structure.
-T does not intervene unless SS need help in word finding difficulty.
