Coordinate Questions Unit 1

33.9 N, 116.25 W
· What do you observe here? Describe what you see in terms of pattern, density and/or
concentration.
At these coordinates I’ve observed that the area is most likely dry because there does not look like there is much green and lots of tan almost like a
desert. When I zoomed out I observed that there were mountains So seeing that I am guessing that little to no people live there because not many
people live in the mountains. Again, there is also concentration with mountains.
· How would describe the climate of this area? What visual clues lead you to this conclusion?
I am guessing now that I zoomed out and realized there were mountains I am guessing that the climate would be rainy and/or snowy because it
usually tends to be snowy or rainy or both because they are tall.
33.75 N, 116.35 W
· How far away is this location from the previous coordinates?
10 degrees
· What is going on here? You may need to zoom in or out to understand what you see. Again,
describe what you see in terms of pattern, density, and concentration.
It seems at these coordinates there appears to be small neighborhood and a golf course and around that a lot more houses. A pattern I see is a
continuation of houses. There obviously seems to be lots of people living in this area due to all of the houses.
· How would you describe the human modification of the environment at this location? How
would you characterize this particular cultural landscape?
There has been a lot of human modification because houses and golf courses don’t just show up in nature...but I would characterize this as a
neighborhood.
· Zoom out from this location and describe where it is. What about its situation explains its
existence?
When I zoom out from this location I see that there is a small town where the coordinates are.
Now look briefly at the following places, and note where they are (city, country):
· 33.434 S, 70.565 W
Bustamante Guetirrez, Julia
· 1.345 S, 36.717 E
Nairobi, Kenya
· 26.093 N, 50.567 E
Al Mazrowiah, Bahrain
· 39.965 N, 116.234 E
Haidian Qu, Beijing Shi
· 47.985 N, 11.51 E
Bavaria, Germany
How do you think this idea diffused? Explain your answer.
How do these locations demonstrate globalization and diffusion?
The idea is diffused by many people being spread among many places around the world. This is an example of globalization because you don’t see the
whole picture of the map until you fully zoom in or zoom out.
