Scientist’s Prayer
Dear Creator God,
Today I’m seeking to understand
more about you and the way you made
the world. I know your thoughts are as
high above mine as the heavens are
above the earth, but I also know you
love to fill us with your wisdom when
we ask for it.
I come to you knowing you
have all the power and authority; it
is only when I fear you and place my
mind under yours that I can really
know anything. Remembering you is
also what I need to develop theories
and think through how to use the
facts I uncover.
Thank you, Jesus, for being
the root and foundation of
science.
Thank you for translating
God’s truth into a language we
can understand. Please guide my
thoughts and actions to the best
ways to uncover the truth.
Bless me with wisdom to see
what natural people would never
dream of looking for.
Most of all, Lord God, I ask
that all I discover may reveal
more of your glory. May we
recognize in a deeper way your
genius, orderliness, and beauty.
For yours is the
kingdom, the power,
and the glory forever.

Amen.

Electromagnetic
● does not need matter to transfer
● waves
made by vibrating electric charges
energy
and can travel through space by
transferring energy between
vibrating electric and magnetic
fields

Properties
All matter contains charged
particles that are always moving;
therefore, all objects emit EM
waves.
● The wavelengths become
shorter as the temperature of
the material increases.
Properties
● carry radiant energy
● travel 300,000 km/sec in
space. (speed of light-
nature’s limit!)
Properties:As a particle
● Heinrich Hertz discovered that
shining light on a metal caused
electrons to be ejected
● can behave as a particle
called a photon whose energy
depends on the frequency of
the waves
6.Circle the appropriate words to describe
the waves at the LEFT end of this wave
spectrum

a. Long / Short wavelength

b. High / Low frequency
c. High / Low energy
7.Highlight the appropriate words to
describe the waves at the RIGHT end of
this wave spectrum

a. Long / Short wavelength

b. High / Low frequency
c. High / Low energy
