Reflection paper

In the movie ‘‘Anak’’ we all realized how a mother will sacrifice her happiness and everything
just to make us happy and we also realized how important a mother to us and to every person.
Saying ‘‘ I love you’’ to our mother is just a little way of saying ‘‘ thank you’’ for all they had
done for us. They are the most important people in the world therefore we should give them the
love they deserve and the utmost respect. Her sacrifices are eternal and should not be questioned
only for a narrow-minded reason. How a mother love her children is the most heavenly deed on
earth. In this movie it shows a woman struggling to make a better life for her family and that’s
why she go to Hong Kong to work as a domestic helper for six grueling years and for those six
years of working she was mistreated by her mam and sir. For those six years of efforts it caused
a rift between her and her children. Josie ( Vilma Santos) has a good quality for being a mother
to her children., she is a caring mother, she makes a great effort to show them that she cares for
them. She was also patient because she give her unconditional love despite of their differences,
she is also affectionate because she showers her children with love and attention.

In this movie Josie is a strange to her family, since she was abroad for a very long time her
daughters and son felt a little awkward and distant because since they grow up they got used to
not being around their mother. In this movie it focuses on the relationship of a parent and a child
who comes a trial which concerns misunderstanding due to communication gaps between the
daughters. The relationship as a family is not intact because of the misunderstanding, problems
and miscommunication to her children. As they grow older they don’t have a mother to support
them emotionally and spiritually that’s why they think and felt that their mother abandons them
and never care for them. And when the confrontation began they have a fight with her eldest
daughter Carla and in that moment her daughter Carla understand all the sacrifices that her
mother did. While her mother is calculating something she ( Carla) made a coffee and that’s
were Carla told her mother everything that was on her mind and at that point they forgive each
other.
A mother is not a perfect person. She struggles for happiness and only thinks of her family’s
wellness. As a normal person she is. She commits mistakes which I think are mistakes for a
reason and has a reason. A child, who is pampered with a mother’s love should love and respect
his/her mother ( parents in general) as a little return of what they have given you. It is us
(children) who supports our mother and must therefore act as the one who understand her
sacrifices. This story only tell us that no matter what happens your friends may leave and dessert
you, but your family, especially your mother will always stay right besides you, understand you,
give you all of her love and will always support you.
