THE ENGLISH PANEL OF SMKJ


WHAT IS HIP ?
A programme introduced under the
MBMMBI policy that will imprope the
English proficiency of students
through increased exposure in
schools.
It also aims to inculcate positipe
behapiours towards the learning
and usage of the English Language.
It is not a new programme since it is
a reinforcement of the 1999 MOE
circular on implementing English
enrichment activities in and out of
class.
It is very much in alignment with the
Student Aspirations of the
Malaysian Education Blueprint (MEB)
in which the MEB espouses students
to be bilingually proficient to be
globally competitive.
Parents and community play the role
of “Supporters” in it.
• DEAR—Drop Everything And
Read
Students from one narticular form will
gather simultaneously at the assembly
DEAR ground every Friday to read English
books/novel/materials/comics etc.
Every Friday, students from a different
form will be nerforming this task.
ENG ON • ENGLISH ON AIR
AIR Volunteers/selected students will act as
DJs during recess to chat on selected
tonics & nlay English songs.
• ENGLISH DAY
ENGLISH The whole school community will be
using English as the language of
DAS
communication on Thursday.
• OH MY ENGLISH! CLASS
Selected students will be involved in this
class, through community outreach &
OH MS ENG! collaboration with UMW-OG Comnany.
CLASS They will be having class every Tuesday,
which focuses more on communication
skill.
