STREAMLINE INDOOR WIRELESS NETWORK PLANNING

STREAMLINE INDOOR WIRELESS NETWORK PLANNING

The iBwave Design application is the most comprehensive software available for automated network
design planning. Users can streamline the process of data collection, component selection, cost
evaluation, design, validation, documentation, reporting and more. Significantly reduce the time spent on
manual field work and increase cost savings.

1
5G NR System Configuration

5G NR SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
1) Create a 5G NR System – Bandwidth Parts
Users can now create a 5G NR Wireless System and define any supported Frequency Band and block
associated with that band (see Figure 1 5G NR Wireless Service Configuration). Additionally, if the
system is TDD, they can also assign the number of Downlink / Uplink slots (which will affect available
resource blocks, and therefore MADR calculations). Additionally, users can also define the Subcarrier
Spacing (SCS) / Numerology value. Finally, users can select from a list of available Bandwidth Part
(BWP) configurations that include power configurations for this 5G network.

Figure 1 5G NR Wireless Service Configuration

At this time, a 5G NR system comprises a single Bandwidth Part, but users can create multiple scenarios
of bandwidth parts. Figure 2 outlines the user interface in creating additional BWP configurations, with
variable power values for each of the Synchronization, Broadcast Channel, Control Channel, Shared
Channel and Reference Signal; or users may opt to leave power configurations as ‘Automatic’.

Figure 2 Bandwidth Part (BWP) Power Definitions

Finally, users may choose to adjust Network Optimization values under Properties -> Calculations ->
Prediction -> Network Optimization, as well as any other location wherein a per-technology set of
configuration options exist.

The creation and assignment of these newly created Wireless Systems onto parts that support them, or
as signal sources, allows users to create predictions of real-world scenarios of 5G configurations in-
building.

3
5G NR System Configuration

2) 5G-NR Bands and Frequencies

• New millimeter wave bands: 26 GHz (24 GHz available in this band), 31 GHz, 39 GHz and
millimeter measurements up to 60 GHz
• New sub 6 GHz bands: 3.7 GHz, 4.5 GHz
• Modified sub 5GHz bands: 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1500 MHz, 1800
MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.6 GHz, 3.5 GHz

3) Support for Full-Coverage patterns in multi-beam antennas

To facilitate future development of Beamforming, multibeam antenna components will soon support the
ability to import a unique RF pattern file for each individual beam that comprises its array. iBwave Design
will then handle the merge of these individual beams to create an overall RF pattern in Release 12.

4) Lab-tested Material properties can now be encrypted

All iBwave-created materials are now updated to support mmWave properties all the way up to 60GHz.
Material components updated with these new mmWave measurements are currently encrypted and
displayed with a ‘Confidential’ tag.

4
WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 12.0?

5G NR PREDICTION MAPS ACROSS MMWAVE AND SUB-6 GHZ RANGE

5) New SS-RSRP Output Map
New SS-RSRP output map shows reference signal coverage based on the secondary synchronization
signal.

6) New SS-SNIR Output Map

New SS-SNIR output map shows the best serving system at any location based on the reference power
showing the signal noise to the Interference ratio.

7) New PDCSH-SNIR Output Map

New SS-SNIR output map shows the best serving system at any location based on the reference power
showing the signal noise to the Interference ratio.

8) Additional output maps now available for 5G NR

Existing output maps are now available for 5G technologies:
• Best Server

• Field Strength

• Handoff

• Interpolation signal strength

• Map subtraction

• MADR

• MIMO Ranking

• Nature of the path

• Service count

• Signal Strength

5G NR Prediction Maps Across mmWave and Sub-6 GHZ Range

9) Predictions with Full-Coverage Pattern Antennas

The Full-coverage pattern settings for Multi-beam antennas that combines beams to provide full-
coverage, benefits the 5G NR output maps:

• PDSCH-SNIR
• SS-SNIR
• SS-RSRP
• MADR
• Signal Strength

Antennas that are configured with combined beams for full-coverage patterns have an impact on
prediction results and optimized power to satisfy data usage in one concentrated area of a venue.

WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 12.0?

IMPROVED BUILDING MODELING

10) Improved curved walls modeling
Model curved walls and advanced curved designs, supported for the Propagation module, to design
arches and curved lines on floor plans.

11) New diagonal walls modeling

When modeling walls on floor plans, you now have the option of drawing diagonal walls in a building.

iBwave Design Release Notes / Version 12.0.1

7
SSO Integration and License Activation

12) Automatically adjust wall heights under inclined surfaces

Drawing walls under inclined surfaces can be easily adjusted based on the height of the incline. A wall or
a wall point can pass above or under the inclined surface.

SSO INTEGRATION AND LICENSE ACTIVATION

13) Single Sign-On Integration
Administrators can now use the SSO API in iBwave Design for the purpose of a centralized user login
and authentication to the iBwave application. Integrate with the organization’s security policies to manage
user access from a centralized managed access control and security system.

14) Silent Install and License Activation

A new option is now available to record all installation settings that can allow installers to run the same
settings for multiple installations.

License activation is also automatically retrieved and activated during installation and upgrade.

IMPROVED PERFORMANCE FOR DAS MODELING

• Faster power calculation on large scale-designs

• Improved performance and user experience for projects
