Excel Tips: Breakeven analysis with the Tools|GoalSeek command
2
Dear Agatha,
3 I have developed a model to calculate the NPV of a project. It is based on the
4 number of units that we expect to sell. This is a very uncertain number. How should I
5 proceed to calculate the minimum number of unit to sell in order to achieve a
6 positive NPV? (My professor taught be formulas to do this but I didn't understand
7 his explanations.)
8
Dear Excel user,
9
The Tools|GoalSeek command let you find a number such that the some value in your
10 spreadsheet is equal to something. Below, I show you how to find the quantity sold so that
11 the NPV is 0.
