Cracking Daniel Chapter 7 (ALL ANSWER IN THE BIBLE ITSELF)

Symbols: Wind, Sea, Beasts, Lion, eagle wings, Bear, three ribs, leopard with four heads, terrible
beasts with iron teeth, seven heads, 10 horns, little horn with mouth like a man.

a. What does the sea and the winds represent in this context?
Sea- symbolizes many people [Revelation 17:15 “The waters which you saw… are
peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.”]
Wind- symbolizes strife, political power and war [Jeremiah 25:31-33 “Behold disaster
shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the
farthest parts of the earth.”
b. What does the beast represent?
Example: Daniel 7:23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth
kingdom that will appear on earth.

Beast represents Kingdoms.

c. What does the lion with eagle wings represent?


Since the Beasts represents kingdoms, according to Daniel chapter 2 the first kingdom
under the leadership of king Nebuchadnezzar is Babylon. Thus, Babylon is fitly
represented by the lion with eagle wings.

Daniel 2: 32-33 “This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly
and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.”

Daniel 7:17 ‘Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings which arise out of the
earth.’
Jeremiah 50:17 “…The lions have driven him away. First the king of Assyria devoured
him; Now at last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”
d. Why this beast has eagle wings.
Denotes the speed at which Babylon extended its conquests under Nebuchadnezzar

f. What does the bear represent?


Represents the kingdom of Medo-Persia, consisting of two nationalities, the Medes and
Persians. This corresponds to the chest and arms of silver from the image of Daniel 2.

and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.”
g. Why the bear has three ribs on its mouth?

Signifies the three provinces of Babylon, Lydia and Egypt which Medo-Persia
conquered.
h. State the historical time line that the bear reign. (period of its existence: dates).
538 BC – 331 BC that is a period of 207 years
i. What does leopard represent?
symbolizes the kingdom of Greece which is the third.

Daniel 2: 32-33 “This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly
and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.”
j. Why leopard has four heads and four wings?
Four heads: divided kingdom amongst Alexanders generals (Cassander, Lysimachus,
Ptolemy, and Seleucas)
Four wings: symbolize the unprecedented rapidity to conquer
k. State the historical time line that the leopard reign. (period of its existence: dates).

l. What does the terrible beast with iron teeth represent?

Represents the Roman Empire, the fourth kingdom describe in Daniel chapter 2.

Daniel 2: 32-33 “This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly
and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.”

Daniel 2:40 ‘And the fourth kingdom shall be a strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in
pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in
pieces and crush all the others.’

m. Why does the terrible beast have 7 heads?


The terrible beast had 7 heads as it represents the seven different governments that
ruled the Roman empire.

Revelation 17:9-10 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven
mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one
is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.

168 BC – 351 AD

o. What does the 10 horns represent.


The horns represent 10 kings
Daniel 7: 24 ‘The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom.’
p. State the historical time line that the 10 horns in power. (period of its existence: dates).

q. State some characteristics of the little horn that rose other 10 horns.
 Subdue three kings
 Speak pompous words against the Most High
 Persecute the saints of the Most High
 Change times and law
 Had eyes like eyes of man
Daniel 7: 24-25 “And shall subdue three kings. He shall speak pompous words
against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and
shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his
hand for a time and times and half a time.”

Daniel 7:8 …and, behold in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a
mouth speaking great things.
r. Identify the little horn.
Represents a little kingdom/power –Papacy

Daniel 7:24 ‘The ten horns are ten kings Who shall arise from this kingdom.’
Daniel 8:12 As for the broken horn and the four that stood up in its place, four kingdoms
shall arise out of that nation, but not with its power.
s. Little horn uproots three horns identify them.

Symbolizes the three kingdoms that was plucked up to give way for the Papacy;
a) Heruli
b) Vandals
c) Ostrogoths
t. State the historical time line that the little horn reign. (period of its existence).

Hint: Time, times and half a time.

Daniel 7:25 ‘Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a
time.’

Revelation 12:6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place
prepared by God that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty
days.

Revelation 12:14 …where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the
presence of the serpent.
John the Revelator clearly defines to us the reigning period of the little horn and that is
1260 days [360+2(360) +180].
