10 Tips for Connecting with Customers on Tour and ONLINE

1. Concentrate on the social media platforms you and your customers enjoy.

2. Develop your “point of sale” with a blog or website: Permanent content that YOU own.

3. Use social media to direct customers to the point of sale. Give them a taste.

4. Video is king! Posts with video, live video or photos get more engagement.

5. You don’t have to be a professional video producer. Shoot on your phone. Studies have
shown slick video productions can be LESS effective with younger viewers.

6. The best videos are SHORT (under two minutes) and feel AUTHENTIC.

7. Eliminate distractions from your appearance:

 Wear solid, bold colors. Avoid patterns, prints, all black or white.
 Men: hair and beard neatly trimmed.
 Women: hairstyle that frames the face.
 Dress for the environment you are in.

8. Voice quality and delivery.

 Invest in a clip-on microphone. Don’t shout.
 Use natural gestures and move around if possible.
 Go “a little crazy” to seem normal in front of the camera.
 If your accent is a concern, slow down and speak clearly.
 Two magic words that make every video better: HERE and THIS.

9. Tell me a story with crisis, conflict and resolution.

 Crisis: The problem the customer wants to solve.
 Conflict: Different ways of solving the problem.
 Resolution: Buy my tour.

10. Work with travel bloggers and journalists to create content around your message.
