Rules of Scientific Writing Competition

A. Participants
1. The participants are high school / vocational / MA / course / university students in
Indonesia.
2. Participants join the competition in team which consist of two members from the
same school or university. Every school or university can send more than one team.
3. Participants can come from different disciplines.
4. Each team can only send maximum 1 work.
5. Each team is guided by 1 teacher or 1 supervisor.
6. Each submitted paper has been approved by the headmaster or head of study program
or department.
7. The paper must be original without plagiarism and has never been a finalist or the
winner in another competition (marked by the originality sheet of paper signed by the
team leader on a stamp of 6,000).
8. Participants who can pass the full paper selection will be invited to attend the whole
series of event and present their paper at Halu Oleo University, Kendari.
9. During participating in Scientific Writing Competition of English Expo 2019, all
participants must obey the rules of the committee.

B. Topic
Theme:
“Optimizing Student Potential in Writing Scientific Papers on The Challenges of The
Development of Science and Technology”

Sub-themes:
1. Education
2. Economy and Business
3. Social and Culture
4. Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT).

C. Mechanism
1. Participants register and submit their abstract on June 26 to August 9 2019.
2. Participants will get information for the teams that qualified for the next phase on
August 16, 2019.
3. The participants who passed the abstract selection must pay the registration fee and
submit their full paper on August 17 to August 31, 2019.
4. The committee will select and choose the best eight of the papers.
5. The best eight of the participants will come and present their papers in Kendari.
 6. There are only three winners in this competition (1st Winner, 2nd Winner, and 3rd
winner).
7. The winners will be announced at the end of the competition.
8. The adjudicator’s decision is absolute.
