A message from the President
Hello Alumni! My name is Kyle Hayes. Lambda Mu has seen its
share of institutional changes and operational changes. This year,
we’re focusing primarily on that: change. We’re a chapter that has
struggled with recruitment in years past and with finding an
identity to hold to encourage the musicians of Montclair to
harmony. The chapter brothers and I have turned our eyes
toward a Re-Branding. We’re changing how we participate on
campus and the culture our Chapter lives by. We’re polishing our
image so this university’s vast Greek community will recognize the
work of Sinfonia on its campus. Our Alumni are always welcomed
at our meetings and functions. We hope to see you all again soon!
A message from the Alumni Relations Officer
Stepping into this position, I knew exactly what I wanted to see
within this chapter. We haven’t had the best communication
with the alumni, so I would like to make this change by having
alumni more involved with our events and performances while
also keeping them in the loop. When I first joined this fraternity,
Lambda Mu brothers active at the time as well as some alumni
welcomed me. Now I would like to welcome the alumni back. I
have great expectations for this chapter that I will push for
when it comes to our alumni ranging from the recently
graduated to our founding brothers of this chapter.

This wouldn’t be an alumni
newsletter without the latest
updates from alumni themselves.
Mike Saias (Spring 1997) has
been in the Army Band for quite
sometime now. He is about to
be deployed to Korea for a year
tour with the 8th Army at Camp
Humphreys. I will be playing with
the 8th Army Band and touring
Asia. Pretty cool stuff. Gerry
Yoselevich (Spring 1982) has just
begun my 34th year teaching
band and orchestra to 4th
graders in Union Public Schools
and my 16th year as an adjunct
professor at Kean University in
the music department.
In addition to his teaching
responsibilities he is active with
NJEA working to preserve the
rights educators have fought for

over the decades. He also has
two daughters in college:
Jacklyn’s a senior at Ithaca
College and Hanna’s a
sophomore at Elmira College.
When he is not teaching he
enjoys hiking with Max my
Portuguese Water Dog and of
course getting to perform music
with amazingly talented people
regularly on both tuba, his major
instrument and mandolin. Former ARO Mike

Even after graduating, recent alumni Vin
Verducci (Spring 2016) and Brian
Weissman (Spring 2016) still keep in
touch and jam out with two of their
non-Sinfonian friends in their thrash-
metal band Mindrazer with Vin on bass
and Brian on drums. Having been active
for almost 3 years, they’ve played at such
places as Dingbatz in Clifton,
Championship Bar in Trenton, and the
Sussex County Fair pictured to the left.

Fraternity News
Our Province Governor Eric T. Engelhardt
has decided to step down from his position
to move to Berlin, Germany. No
replacement has been announced yet but we
will always keep him in our thoughts. Even
though he has stepped down, he will still
strive to be of the highest type of man. On
behalf of Lambda Mu and Province 1, we
wish him the best of luck on his future
endeavors.
Every year Province 1 of Phi Mu Alpha holds
a province workshop for every chapter in
the province to get together and do Sinfonia
bonding activities. Province 1 consists of
Lambda Mu, Lambda Nu, Lambda Pi,
Omicron Alpha, Omicron Theta, Zeta
Alpha, Zeta Omega, Rho Kappa, and Sigma
Alpha.
