Legalizing of Divorce in Philippines

Thesis statement: In incurable relationship divorce is not the best way to scape

Divorce is a legal action between married people to terminate their marriage relationship, it can be
referred to as dissolution of marriage is basically the legal action that ends the marriage. Marriage is a
sacred and meant last forever, vows usually include this phrase “for better or for worse in sickness and in
health, for richer or for poorer till death do us part” that words make as believe until the last they stay
together. As a sacred union between a man and a woman thus it must be cherished and valued with love,
but if a marriage is not working anymore that only becomes an abuse and it becomes separation.
(Maxwell and Maxwell 2003) found that Filipinos adolescents, who witnessed familial aggression and
violence self-reported higher aggression, regarded of gender. Unfortunately some marriage fall apart for
one reason or another but a husband and wife come to an intersection where they either attempt top stay
for the children or part ways (King, 2018 p.1).

Divorce is not a solution to the problems of many couples having their difficulties, they should
save the relationship. Children are the one reason why they keep their family together and bravely face all
the problems. Divorce is like a medicine but not a recommended one. Filipinos is a religious people if
divorce legalized in our country the couples have a chance to remarry again, however it’s against the
Christian beliefs. Additionally, according to (Harold, Goekle –Money and Cummings 2004) the children
may have an emotional security which is can affect (anxiety, depression) and (verbal and physical
aggression) as well as negatively affecting social competence adjustment and academic achievement of
child. The 1987 Constitution of Republic of the Philippines (Article XV Sec 2 The Family Code of
Philippines) the beautiful fundamental law shows that the marriage as an inviolable social institution, is
the foundation of the family and shall be protected by the state and marriage is special contract of
permanent union between a man and a woman entered into accordance with a law for the establishment of
conjugal and family life.

The state shall defend:

1. The right spouses to found a family in accordance with their religious conviction and the
demands of responsible parenthood;
2. The right of children to assistance ,including proper care and nutrition ,and special protection
from all forms of neglect, abuse ,cruelty, exploitation and other conditions prejudicial to their
development;
3. The right of the family to a family living wage and income; and
4. The right of families or family associations to participate in the planning and implementation of
policies and programs that affect the
We and Vatican are the only countries where divorce is illegal nowadays, if divorce should
legalized it avoid adultery, it is a sexual intercourse between a marriage man and someone and the wife
will no longer suffer, so that she can move to her life and focus to her children. This would mean that
divorce promotes and enables relief for victims of an already broken family by providing opportunities to
form, new real relationships. However, Philippine law does not provide inside the country, and it remains
the only UN-member. If divorce is it not legalized the family have a chance to be together again and they
cherished their love and it builds again a happy family.

In closing, divorce should not be legalized because it can affect to the children physically and
emotionally. The family have a chance to keep their relationship make. If divorce should not be legal the
couples does not chance to remarry again and they focus to their family. It is a general truth that divorce
has a negative impact on the lives of the family members going through it especially the children. The
possible action that you make is like accept that your spouse is human, understand what the biggest issues
in your marriage are and also spend more quality time together if we r there’s not separation if every
individual make an action.
