INTRODUCTION

This assignment is designed for students to achieve Course Learning Outcome 1. Upon completion
of this assignment, students should be able to:

 Prepare elemental costs estimation based on elemental breakdown;


 Prepare Elemental Costs Analysis based on Standard Form of Elemental Costs Analysis.

REQUIREMENTS

 This is a group assignment. You are required to form a group of 5 students.


 This assignment shall be presented in font size of 11, 1.15 line spacing; approximate 1500
words count.
 Any plagiarised work is required to redo. Any piece of re-do coursework will be awarded with
the minimum coursework passing mark or may fail at the discretion of marker after reassessed.

TASK

Part 1.0 : Group work [70%]


You had been assigned by your company to be the Quantity Surveyor in-charge of a particular
project and your team have been assigned with the following tasks:

1.1 Based on drawings provided, your team are required to prepare the costs estimation based
on elemental breakdown.

1.2 Upon completion of Task 1.1, your team are required to rely on information and/or data in
Task 1.1 to prepare Elemental Cost Analysis using Standard Form of Elemental Costs
Analysis.

1.3 Your team will be given 20 minutes to carry out presentation on the aforesaid tasks to the
management team of your company. All presentation shall be in either or a combination of
Powerpoint, Words or Excel format.

Part 2.0 : Individual work [30%]


Each team member shall produce a one-page comment for Part 2. State your name on the top left
corner of the page.

2.1 Comments on the advantages, disadvantages and/or concerns of using Elemental Costs
Analysis to be the method of preliminary estimate for any given development project in
the property industry including individual presentation.

 Insertion of table of content and page number.
 Consistency of captions and headings.
 References (bibliography list and in-text citations) made are in accordance with Harvard
