(I) Preparation of Bis(acetylacetonato)diaquanickel(II)

1. 3.5 ml acetylacetone.

2. 25 ml 1M Sodium hydroxide.

3. 5ml ethanol .

4. 3.25g Nickel sulfate dissolved in 12 ml water.

5. Then added Nickel sulfate solutions to acetylacetone solution.

6. Filtration with vacuum.

7. Recrystalization with dissolving it in ethanol.(solid +ethanol just

boil for 10 min. in water bath).un dissolved precipitate reheat
with further portion of ethanol.
8. Filtration (need filtrate)

9. Weigh filter paper then filter

(II) Preparation of Tris(acetylacetonato)iron(III)

1. 4.5 g FeCl3.6H2O dissolved in 6 ml hot water (90 Co)

2. Drop wise 9 ml of conc. NH4OH.

3. Filter.

4. Wash ppt. with cold water.

5. In Erlenmeyer flask put ppt. (Fe(OH)3) and 12 ml

acetylacetone.
6. Heat gently for 45 min.

7. Cool.

8. Weigh filter paper then filter
