 Air Pollution

Air pollution affects so much more than just the air we breathe. Everything living has a need for
clean, breathable air, from humans and animals, to plants and trees. These needs make fighting air
pollution a major priority for everyone, to help heal and protect our planet and future.

First, air pollution is a common issue among large cities, anywhere in the world. High volumes of
traffic, large industrial areas, and dense concentrations of people all contribute to the amount of
pollution in the area. The effects of air pollution reach around the globe, wreak havoc on people,
plants, and animals. Changes to air and water quality create dangerous and even deadly situations.

Secondly, breathing polluted air can cause damage to the heart and lungs. Similar to the effects of
smoking tobacco, inhaling the particles in polluted air can cause people and animals to develop heart
and lung disease that could eventually prove fatal. Those with certain medical conditions may find
that high levels of air pollution aggravate their symptoms. People with asthma, allergies, and
diseases resulting in breathing problems are usually the worst affected.

Pencemaran Udara
Polusi udara mempengaruhi lebih dari sekedar udara yang kita hirup. Segala sesuatu yang hidup
membutuhkan udara yang bersih dan dapat bernapas, mulai dari manusia dan hewan, hingga
tanaman dan pohon. Kebutuhan ini menjadikan memerangi polusi udara sebagai prioritas utama
bagi semua orang, untuk membantu menyembuhkan dan melindungi planet kita dan masa depan.

Pertama, polusi udara adalah masalah umum di antara kota-kota besar, di mana saja di dunia.
Volume lalu lintas yang tinggi, area industri besar, dan konsentrasi penduduk yang padat semuanya
berkontribusi pada jumlah polusi di area tersebut. Efek dari polusi udara mencapai seluruh dunia,
mendatangkan malapetaka pada manusia, tanaman, dan hewan. Perubahan kualitas udara dan air
menciptakan situasi berbahaya dan bahkan mematikan.

Kedua, menghirup udara yang tercemar dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada jantung dan paru-paru.
Mirip dengan efek dari merokok tembakau, menghirup partikel-partikel di udara yang tercemar
dapat menyebabkan orang dan hewan mengembangkan penyakit jantung dan paru-paru yang
akhirnya bisa berakibat fatal. Mereka yang memiliki kondisi medis tertentu mungkin menemukan
bahwa polusi udara tingkat tinggi memperburuk gejala mereka. Penderita asma, alergi, dan penyakit
yang mengakibatkan masalah pernapasan biasanya yang paling parah terkena dampaknya.
