Discuses the two sources of primary and secondary data with advantages and
disadvantages.

Primary data : can be define as the data which is collected for the first time or we can also
say first hand data. The main function is to collect data from primary sources. The primary
sources includes observation, personal interview, questionnaire(survey form).

Advantages of primary data

1. It is easily available
2. Immediately availability of data
3. Proper full/up to date information
4. Gives higher level of control
5. It is expensive

Disadvantages of primary data

1. Primary data is limited


2. It is more expensive/costly
3. Unreliable data
4. Time consuming

Secondary data : can be define as the data which is second hand data or we can say it
providers second hand information. Sources of secondary data are government report, web
information, research analyses, media etc.

Advantages of secondary data

1. It is easy to access
2. Already collected data
3. Less time consuming
4. It provides low cost data or free
5. Obtained quickly

Disadvantages of secondary data

1. Lack of quality data


2. Data may be outdated
3. May be not specific to your need
4. Data is collected by someone else
