Part-A
 Conduct the following heat treatment process on steel specimens
a) Normalizing b) Hardening and find its hardness(RHN)
 Determine wear rate of given material when subjected to dry sliding
 Conduct magnetic particle inspection test and detect flaws of ferrous material.
 Conduct dye penetrant test and detect flaws of ferrous and nonferrous material.
 Determine the BHN of given material. Sketch the details used to find the indentation diameter.
 Determine the RHN of given material.
 Determine the VHN of given material
Part-B
 Conduct tensile test on given specimen and draw stress and strain curve. Calculate % elongation, %
reduction in area and young’s modulus.
 Conduct torsion test in the given material and to plot torque vs angle of twist and hence determine
ultimate shear strength, resilience, toughness and ductility.
 Conduct compression test on given material. Plot stress and strain curve. Calculate % increase in area, %
decrease in length and young’s modulus. Comment on nature of fracture.
 Determine shear strength of given material by subjecting to double shear. Sketch the loading
arrangement and the failure process.
 Conduct bending test on given specimen and Calculate stiffness, bending stress and young’s modulus.
 Determine the impact strength of given material by charpy test. Sketch the arrangement used for
loading.
 Determine the impact strength of given material by izod test. Sketch the arrangement used for loading.
