Focusing on impact of a food industry in PH agriculture

The speaker from the seminar has been involved in the food industry for more than thirty
years already. He is currently working for the Zenith Food Corporation which is a subsidiary
company of the Jollibee Food Corporation. The main points in his talk was about the integrated
management system that their company is involved with, specifically having certification from
different regulatory boards (majority is from the government). These certification bodies ensure
food and environmental safety of the products of Zenith Food Corporation which further provides
better security for the consumers, and improves their image and compliance ability.

Honestly, I found the seminar seemingly less relevant to addressing problems in

agriculture compared to the previous ones we had. As I observed, the speaker merely talked
about the Zenith Food Corporation and the state of the art systems and mechanisms that they
have. Although he mentioned the importance of food safety and customer satisfaction, the
discussion was more centered within the company (and the business side) and was not reflected
towards Philippine agriculture. I think it would be better if he discussed more on the company’s
impact in agriculture – that could be more helpful in giving the students a view of the reality, in my
opinion. Nevertheless, I appreciated his effort in sharing what they do in Zenith Food Corporation.
I don’t know if it is just me who share this opinion, or maybe it is because of the reputation of JFC
that made me write these things.
