Definition of Terms

Addiction- great interest in a particular thing to which a lot of time is devoted

Academic - relating to education, educational studies, an educational


institution, or the educational system

Digital Age – age of computers and modern technology

Social Media- environment in which a group of people came together to share


data, relationships and content, using internet communication channels

Socialize – take part in social activities: to take part in social activities, or behave
in a friendly way to others

Technology - the study, development, and application of devices, machines, and


techniques for manufacturing and productive processes

In our study, SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION refers to the topic that we


wanted to investigate and to see how it really affects a student's academic
performance, or if it has good or bad effects on the students. On this study, it will
mean as the student's great interest on social media or addiction on social media.

Meanwhile, ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE refers to how a student performs in


class and how they do their roles and responsibility as students of the school. It
will also refer to their academic standing and their learning ang performing
abilities in class.

DIGITAL AGE AND TECHNOLOGY will be the intervening factors on how a


student will cope and struggle for her academic performance in school and
SOCIALIZE will be referred to by respondents as their way of interacting or
interaction whether in social media or in person.
