Hi Lili,
How are you ? It has been three weeks since I moved from our neighborhood and I
have a lot of stories about this city. Apparently, it is very fascinating, and I think I will be
very glad to live here for a long time.
Last weekend, I went hiking with my family to the hills behind the house. That was
the best scenery I have ever seen! There were many trees and lakes. Since you like hiking
a lot, if you come there, I am sure that you’ll love it very much. On our way back from
hiking, we went to the waterfall. It was really great and so refreshing. This is a wonderful
city, especially for you, who love to go hiking and playing in waterfalls.
I’m waiting for your visit.

Cheers,
Toni

ladies and knights. King told that shepherdess to look into the mirror. Shepherdess
answered that everyone made mistakes. However, she wasn’t afraid to look into the
mirror. Many ladies surrounded her and found that it wasn’t a magic mirror. Those

Have you ever got stuck in a cable car? Well, I have. Last February, I went on a ski
trip to Switzerland. What a trip to remember!
The first morning, I got into a cable car and I was so excited. I wanted to go to the
top of mountain and ski down the slope. The cable car started its way up while I was looking
down. The mountain was so beautiful. Suddenly, there was a terrible noise. The car stopped.
It didn't move and it was very quiet all around
It started snowing and bean to get dark. I was alone for at least two hours. I thought,
"They've forgotten me." I felt so hopeless. Fortunately, the car started its way back down. It
went very fast.
"Sorry," a man said as I climbed out of the car. "We've never had this problem
before. Please try again tomorrow,"
"He's joking," I thought. "I've had enough of cable cars for a lifetime."

The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin:
Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical
amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman
Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman
engineering.
Occupying a site just east of the Roman Forum, its construction started in 72
AD under the emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under Titus with further
modifications being made during Domitian's reign (81-96). The name "Amphitheatrum
Flavium" derives from both Vespasian's and Titus's family name (Flavius, from the
gens Flavia).
Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial
contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-
enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building
ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for
such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry
and a Christian shrine.
Although in the 21st century it stays partially ruined because of damage caused
by devastating earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is an iconic symbol of
Imperial Rome. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close
connections with the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a
torchlit "Way of the Cross" procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum. The
Colosseum is also depicted on the Italian version of the five-cent euro coin.

Fata Morgana is a rare form of mirage that usually plays with our eyes. It makes us see
in unusual ways. This optical phenomenon usually occurs in oases in the middles of the
deserts, in cars that pass over the water puddles on the dry roads, and when ships seem to
float in the sky over the ocean. This reflection is often blurry, extremely big, and even upside
down. In some cases, it can also be twin reflections. The name Fata Morgana itself comes
from Italy, La Fanta Morgana, which means The Fairy Morgana . The name refers to the
influential fairy sorceress in the Arthurian legends. She was a famous opponent of King
Arthur and Queen Quinevere. It was believed that this phenomenon was the work of the
enchantress to lure seamen to their death.

This optical illusion happens when the direction and the speed of the light that reflects
an object is changed by the circumstances in the atmosphere. In normal cases, the reflection
of an object makes its way through the atmosphere without distraction. Consequently, people
see the things as they are. However, in the case of this particular mirage, the atmosphere can
act as the lens that deflect the light and creates a different form of reflection of an object. This
happens due to the significant difference of air’s density and the temperature between the
layers of air in the atmosphere. When the temperature is too high, like that of a desert, the
object can appears as if it is floating above the ground. When the temperature is too low, such
as in that frozen sea or lake, the object would appears as if there are more than one similar
objects. The phenomenon is also related to some supernatural legends, such as the Flying
Dutchman.
