 History of Bollywood

➢ First Bollywood movie was Raja

Harishchandra(1913), however it was a silent movie. In
1931, Alam-ara came which was India's
first sound film. then in 1937 came Kisan Kanya which
was India's first color film.

 Modern Cinema

➢ In 1970s theme revolves around gritty & violent films about

gangster. Amitabh Bachchan was known for his role “angry
young man”.
➢ 1990s witnessed the emergence of stars of actors (SRK,
Salman khan, Amir khan) actress (Madhuri Dixit, kajol).
