BUILDING ENERGY SIMULATION (BES)

Energy simulation predicts the energy performance of a given

building.

 Estimation of the annual energy costs associated with

operating a building while it is in design stage itself.

 It depends on Climate, Orientation of the building,

Construction materials, Windows (WWR & Glazing
Property) , Occupancy patterns, Operating schedules, the
efficiency of lighting and HVAC systems, and other
equipment loads within the building.

GRIHA RATING
 Utilization of energy systems in a building is less than the
benchmarked energy consumption (EPI) figure, through
a simulation exercise.

 The energy systems include air conditioners, indoor

lighting systems, water heaters, air heaters, and air
circulation devices.

Every 10% reduction in EPI of the building shall fetch

additional 2 points to a maximum of 8 points (50% reductions
in EPI from the benchmark).
