EXPECTATION SETTING

1. What do you expect to learn from this subject matter?

- from this subject THE LIFE AND WORKS OF RIZAL, I have expected a lot of new
knowledge and clear understanding about Dr. Jose Rizal, about his works, about what he did
for our country and why did he become our National Hero. In this subject, I also expect know
Dr. Jose Rizal more and to be aware about his hard works for this country.

2. What is the relevance of the subject matter to your profession in the future, and as a
Filipino? Explain.
- the relevance of the subject matter to my profession in the future is that I might be able
to apply the lesson I learned from this subject to become successful in reaching my
profession just like the way Dr. Jose Rizal did in finishing 2 professions, or his techniques on
pursuing those. And as a Filipino, I would be able to give importance to our Filipino language
and being able to acknowledge his works. Even if I might work abroad, I would still be able
to apply my duties of being a Filipino citizen because of what it would teach me.

3. What methodology do you expect to be used in the study of the course? Explain.
- since this subject talks about the life of Jose Rizal, I expected that there would be a
some role-plays to be assigned to us by our instructor, I also expect reporting because it is
one of the way to easily spread the lessons and information about Dr. Jose Rizal.

4. In your own opinion, why is Rizal subject was integrated in the college curriculum.
Elaborate your answers.
- In my own opinion, Rizal subject must be taught in college curriculum because it would
help the college students to know more about Rizal and to make them realize the importance

of the Filipino culture and to make them realize that we shouldn’t easily turn our back from

the culture that moulded us to become a better citizens. This subject is also a big help in
inspiring us, college student when it comes about patriotism, nationalism and also to teach us
about the duties of citizenship.

5. What are your fears and apprehension, if there’s any, all throughout the study of the
course. Explain briefly.
- I don’t have any fear because this subject is all about Jose Rizal and I already know
him and I expected to know him more through this subject. In short, I already have a few
background about him and about what he did to our country.

6. In your own opinion, what was the greatest contribution that Dr. Jose Rizal has done
to the Filipino nation?
- For me, Dr. Jose Rizal’s courage to opposed the Spaniards is already a big contribution
in our nation. Also, his bravery and his firm stand and principles in fighting for

Filipinos’right as human and as a nation. He did not let fear consumed him even if Spaniards

are furious for what he did. He faced all the consequences of his actions even if it risk his
own life just to fight for the Filipinos.

7. Do you consider Dr. Jose Rizal as a real national hero? Explain why. If you have
contradicting idea on this, please explain your thoughts.
- Yes, I consider Dr. Jose Rizal as a national hero because he showed courage, bravery
and determination to do what he think was right for the sake of Filipino people. He fought the
Spaniards in a silent but powerful way, not in a violent way. He’s a person with principles

that even the Spaniards’ wrath won’t fear him enough. He continues his passion even if it

means risking his own life just to get the freedom we want.

REPUBLIC ACT 1425

1. Explain the mandate of Republic Act 1425.

- this law was created to en rich the mind of the student about the history of the
Philippines specifically talking about or national hero and for people not to take advantages

of Rizal’s work. It would make the students’ mind to have a clear understanding about their

responsibility as a Filipino.

2. Explain the patriotic goals and policy statements of Republic Act 1425.
- the patriotic goals and policy statement of RA 1425 explain about educating Filipino
people about the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal. This law was approved to prove to people
that violence or war is not always the solution in battle just like Dr. Jose Rizal did. This law
is really a huge impact on Filipino citizen because it would makes the students understand
what to do right. This law is also made for us to the give importance about our culture and
citizenship, how important to must do our duties as a citizen and as one nation.

1. Why did Dr. Jose Rizal rose on top among our Filipino heroes and acclaimed as our
greatest national hero?

- Dr. Jose Rizal rose on top among the national heroes and acclaimed as our greatest
national hero because he fought for freedom in a silent and powerful way. He showed his
bravery and determination to fight the Spaniards and fight for what he think is right for the
country. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his works which is novels, essays,
articles and poems rather than a force of aggression. He fought for freedom without violence

unlike what other hero did. They fought by taking others’ lives not like Dr. Jose Rizal who

fought without hurting or killing other people, and all I can say is that he deserves it because

that’s what a true hero would do.

2. Who made Rizal the foremost hero in the country?

- The people of the Philippines and the Philippine government made Dr. Jose Rizal the
foremost hero in the country.

EXPECTATION SETTING

1. What do you expect to learn from this subject matter?

 I expect a lot from this subject, to taught me a lot of lessons about the history of Rizal.
I know that this subject will help me to understand more about Rizal's background
and the exact reason why he became our National Hero. And also I expect that this
subject consist of a lot of names that are related to Rizal's life that will also lead me to
clarify all the happening way back.

2. What is the relevance of the subject matter to your profession in the future, and as a
Filipino? Explain.
 The relevance of the subject matter to my profession in the future is something that I
can share more about what I learned soon in this subject to others. And as a Filipino,
it is very significant that we know all about Rizal because he did so much for the
country which is the Philippines. And it is necessary that we give importance to the
people who had a big contribution in terms of lessons and in the country.

3. What methodology do you expect to be used in the study of the course? Explain.
 I expect that the methodology that will use in the study of the course are the
following: Reporting, which it explains the topic clearly. Film showing, which it
relies to a movie shows the happenings of Rizal's life way back. And lastly a role
play, that will be plays by us as a student in different characters.

4. In your own opinion, why is Rizal subject was integrated in the college curriculum.
Elaborate your answers.
 In my opinion, Rizal subject was integrated in the College curriculum it is because for
the students to know Rizal's works and contributions in the country. Also for the
 students to learn not to forget our national hero as he give us his remarkable works
that is really worthy to study.

5. What are your fears and apprehension, if there’s any, all throughout the study of the
course. Explain briefly.
 I don’t have any fear in this subject because I have a few background of Rizal and
I know him sincerely. I look forward on this subject to know more about Rizal’s
life and to learn more from this subject.

6. In your own opinion, what was the greatest contribution that Dr. Jose Rizal has done
to the Filipino nation?
 In my opinion, the greatest contribution that Dr. Jose Rizal has done to the
Filipino nation is he was the one who led Filipino citizens to start a revolution
against the Spanish Government to attain freedom even if it’s cause his life. Dr.
Jose Rizal deserves to be called a national hero in the Philippines because he fight
for that freedom for the sake of the Filipinos and the Philippine country.

7. Do you consider Dr. Jose Rizal as a real national hero? Explain why. If you have
contradicting idea on this, please explain your thoughts.
 Yes, I consider Dr. Jose Rizal as a national hero because he did enough to the
country. He showed his bravery to fight for what is right for the country and for
the Filipino citizens. He give his best in his works and best for the people. He is a
man full of courage and determination to fight the freedom in the nation.

 The law was enacted to give importance for our national hero in the Philippines
and also to give tribute and acknowledgement to him who devoted his life for the
country. This republic act can also shows that we need to respect his works and
for us to remember that every Filipino has a responsibility.

2. Explain the patriotic goals and policy statements of Republic Act 1425.
 The patriotic goals and policy statement of RA 1425 is to mandates that all
institutions in the Philippines would have the subject of Rizal. The goal of this law
is to give importance of Rizal’s works and contributions in the country. It is a big
impact to the Filipino citizens because in this law it explains further all about
Rizal’s and it would be better to for everyone’s understanding.

national hero because he showed bravery to fight what is right and fight for the
Philippine country. He is powerful by giving his best throughout at his time,
expressing his love for the Philippines through his works. He also made the
Filipino citizens proud for what he did and it is enough that he his on top.

2. Who made Rizal the foremost hero in the country?

 The Filipino citizens with the help of Philippine government made Dr. Jose Rizal
the foremost hero in the country.
