Sandy Hook Promise - “Chess” (TV)

Two kids, around 10 or 12 years old, play a game of chess. Shot from over head and slowly
zooming in on the board as the game goes on, until it is zoomed in completely and ends with
one making the winning move.

Overhead, looking down, can only see two kids sitting across from each other, ready to begin a
chess game. One starts the game clock.

SFX: Silence. Press of the clock button. Quiet ticking.

The camera slowly begins to zoom in as the kids make their moves.

SFX: Ticking continues, gradually getting louder.

Kids are no longer in the shot, only the board is visible. Their hands pop into the frame to make
their moves.

SFX: Ticking is now overwhelming, creating a feeling of urgency.

Now only the opponent’s king is in the shot, still from overhead. One kid makes the winning
move. They violently knock over the opponent’s king. As it falls, the screen goes back.

SFX: Ticking suddenly ceases, giving way to silence.

SUPER: Your child shouldn’t be a piece in a chess game.
