Section#4: Description of Approach, Methodology and Work Plan for
Performing the Assignment

Technical Approach and Methodology:

Hayatabad is big and organized part of Peshawar. Its construction trends and regulations are not very
loose. The regulatory authorities put strict restrictions on the construction of new facilities. This makes
the task under consideration a painstaking job. Our organization has been involved in many projects in
Peshawar and specifically in Hayatabad. We have undertaken the projects to full and successful
completion here. This working experience in this specific area has made the whole organization aware of
the complexities of the construction market. Our experience on this terrain has enabled us to respond to
the task with great certainty. The practices that are in swing in this area regarding survey and geotechnical
engineering of project have given us deep knowledge about working on this ground. Our experience
regarding foundation performance on this soil has made us able to predict the structure behavior under
certain conditions.
We will like to propose the following approach and methods for delivering the key deliverables:
Surveying and preparing the layout:

Work Approach/Methodology description

Surveying the area Triangulation survey, We prefer using Totalstation. This allow us
transferring the plan to paper efficient output and save time. This will
further help us in realizing the drawings on
land
Levelling Autolevels will be used We will used Autolevels to make certain the
plinth level. This is important in finding out
how deep the excavation should be to
accommodate the parking facilities and do
not exceed the height restriction of Phase V.
Engineering Autodesk Revit This will use the data above to properly
drawings/plans select the floor levels and plot the data. The
plots produced will be sections and plans
showing the excavation depths and drainage
layout of the structure.
Architectural drawings Autodesk Revit This will deliver the complete architectural
and 3D Models drawings and foundation and floor levels.
This drawing will be delivered for approval.
The drawings will be discussed with the
design the team for better undertaking of
project. The structural design and
foundation approval will lead to the final
drawings that will be the main deliverable
of the project.
Geotechnical investigation:

Work Approach/Methodology Description

Preliminaries Previous experience, The experience in this area has made us
undergoing constructions comfortable to work on this project. The
in area etc. preliminary data will be collected from
authorities and the current construction sites
that are nearby. After that some tests will be
carried out to get more reliable figures
Bores Auger boring This is commonly used to acquire the data
about the underground soil. The boring will
allow us to find out the underlying soil
layers as well as water table depth. The
changes in water table for Hayatabad is
known and do not require serious
consideration.
Tests Triaxial test, SPT The triaxial test samples will be taken at
time of boring. The SPT of different layers
will be done to get the soil parameters
necessary to find the bearing capacity of
foundation soil. Other soil parameter values
will also be obtained that will aid in
foundation selection and the soil preparation
steps
Excavation techniques From the values of the This is required to get the know about the
test excavation techniques or shoring if
required. This report will be given at the
end after getting recommendation of the
geotechnical team
Foundation design and type Interaction between After getting the necessary data the whole
structural and team will suggest the type, depth, and size
geotechnical team of foundation. This step will contribute to
the final report because the foundation type
and design may make some changes to the
structural and architectural drawings
Structural design:

Work Approach/Methodology Description

Main structure design of the structure The main structure is proposed to be RC
according to ACI 314 Frame. The construction of this is highly
favored because of the availability of
material and labor experience. The main
components will be beam column and slab.
The responsible personnel will consist of
the Mr. ABC. The design will be done using
two software’s ETABS and Robot SAP. The
design will conform to ACI 314 codes and
building codes of Pakistan for structural and
earthquake design. The infill will made
through the masonry.
Finishes and floors As per architecture The finishing of the building will be
proposed as per architectural drawing.
Final report Integration of all the The final report will consist of the structural
structural data drawings that will show the reinforcement
details and the dimensions of the supporting
components. After the selection of the
foundation type the report will also include
the foundation details like type, depth,
reinforcements.

Development and other facilities:

Work Approach Description

Electrification Planning of different The company has its own electrical
electrical installations engineer who will prepare the complete
plan of the ducts and wires etc.
Sanatory Kitchen, washrooms These will be planned accordingly. Separate
facilities washroom facilities will be provided for the
disables. The complete layout of the piping
and hoses for the water and sewage supply
will be provided which will be made part of

models and drawings. This will include the
pathways, benches, lawns etc.
Furniture and interior design Through architect This will consist of the interior design for
the furniture and the development of halls

Complete heating, cooling and ventilation planning will be done by simulation software’s. The planning
will provide the output in the form of alternate choices along with recommendations on them. The
number of air-conditioning units required will be proposed. Type and size will be mentioned as well. The
required insulation techniques will be added to specifications. The ceiling and AC ducts will be planned,
and the drawings provided.
