rectified immediately.

Brief Description
The split pin on the brake pedal might been incorrectly assembled or is missing from
factory due to insufficient assembly instructions.

Vehicles concerned
Will be found in VDA+ for campaign C0001.

Method for left hand driven vehicles

1 Remove the plastic cover, screws and the sill moulding.
Note: For FH vehicles the lower screw for the B-pillar handle also needs to be
removed.

2 Remove the lower outboard panel.

Floor mat needs to be folded away before removing lower nuts.

3 Inspect the split pin on the pedal shaft.

• Make sure the shaft is fully inserted into the pedal plate.
• If the split pin is visible, check if bent. If not it needs to be bent enough to secure the
pedal shaft.

• If the split pin is missing or if the shaft is mounted in the opposite direction the lower
inner panel needs to be removed in order to inspect the shaft or mount a new split pin.

• If the split pin is missing insert a split pin into the hole and bend it enough to secure
the shaft.

Method for right hand driven vehicles

1 Remove the plastic cover, screws and the sill moulding.
Note: For FH vehicles the lower screw for the B-pillar handle also needs to be

3 Remove the lower steering column cover.

4 Inspect the split pin on the pedal shaft.

• If the split pin is visible, check if bent. If not it needs to be bent enough to secure the
pedal shaft.
