SPECIFICATION FOR MARKERS

1. SCOPE

This specification covers the minimum requirements for supply, fabrication and
erection of pipeline markers to be installed by CONTRACTOR at various locations
along the route of a cross-country pipeline.
This specification shall be read in conjunction with the conditions of all
specifications and documents included in the CONTRACT between COMPANY and
CONTRACTOR.

2. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS

2.1 Codes and Standards


The latest edition of following Codes and Standards are referenced in this
Specification and all provisions of these reference codes and standards shall be
applicable.
American Petroleum Institute (API)

RP 1109 - Recommended Practice for Marking Liquid


Petroleum Pipeline Facilities.

2.2 Company Specifications


Following Company specifications shall form integral part of this specification and
shall be complied with when applicable.

2.3 Conflict and Clarifi cation


Any Conflict between various requirements of this specification and reference
codes, standards and Company specifications mentioned under section 2.1 and 2.2
above shall be brought to the attention of Company Representative. Until the
resolution is officially made by the Company Representative, the most stringent
requirement shall govern.

3. QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

Requirements covered under Company specification no. XXP000-Z30-J00-001


shall be complied with.

4. GENERAL

CONTRACTOR shall supply, fabricate and install the Pipeline Markers along the
pipeline route. The location of markers as indicated in the approved drawings shall
be treated for guidance purpose only and the exact location of the markers shall be
based on AS BUILT drawings and as directed by COMPANY.
The pipeline markers shall be fabricated and installed in accordance with the
standard drawings included herein. Before start of fabrication of the markers, the
CONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for COMPANY’s approval, the detailed
scheme for the marker plates as applicable for the project. All the markers shall be
painted in accordance with the requirements of Specification for Painting
(Specification No. DNEP000-P30-J00-514). The painting scheme shall be suitable
for Normal Corrosive Environment unless otherwise stated in the scope document..
The pipeline markers shall be installed, as far as possible, at locations such that
they do not cause any hindrance to the regular use of the land or to the traffic.

5. M ARKERS

5.1 Kilometer Markers


Kilometer Markers shall be located, in general, at every one KM. Each post shall be
fitted with two warning plates. One warning plate shall be inscribed with text in
English and the other with text in local language. Markers shall indicate cumulative
distance in kilometers from the reference station, as directed by COMPANY. Marker
shall be fabricated as per Standard Drawing no. DNEP000-P14-J45-509.

5.2 Pipeline Warning Si gn


Warning signs shall be placed at crossings as follows:
- National and State Highway, on both sides of crossings
- Metalled,/WBM Roads, on one side of crossing
- Railways, on both sides of crossing
- Minor Waterways/canals, on one side of crossing.
- Rivers and major water ways/ Canals, on both sides of crossing
- Buried Foreign Pipeline/ Utility Crossing, on one side of crossing
- Valve Station, on one side of valve

- And or any other location as shown in the approved drawings and as directed by the
COMPANY.

Each post shall be fitted with two number warning plates. One warning plate shall
be inscribed with text in English and the other with text in local language.
Where warning sign is within 200 m of KP point, the same shall be provided with KP
post with warning plate indicating crossing chainage.
Pipeline Warning Sign shall identify the existence of the pipeline and display the
name of the COMPANY, with an emergency telephone number, as shown in
Standard Drawing No. DNEP000-P14-J45-511.

5.3 ROU Boundary Marker


Right-of-Use boundary markers shall be fabricated as per the drawing no.
DNEP000-P14-J45-512 and shall be installed at every 250 meters interval along the
entire pipeline route. These shall be installed on either side of the pipeline
alignment to define the ROW boundary limits. These shall also be installed at
pipeline turning points to maintain the continuity of the ROW limits.

5.4 Navigable Waterw ay Pipeline Crossing Warning Sign


The Navigable Waterway Pipeline Crossing Warning Sign shall be fabricated in
accordance with Standard Drawing No. DNEP000-P14-J45-510. Such Warning
Sign shall be installed one on each bank of navigable water courses at the pipeline
crossing location, in lieu of the Pipeline Warning Sign described in Clause 5.2 of
this specification.
