Aims

● To help students talk about cell phone addiction


● To develop students’ reading skills
● To develop students’ question formation skills
● To develop students’ communication skills

Pre- Lesson Stage ● Students will watch a video about cell 10 min
phone addiction and before they
watch, teacher will write the following
questions and get students
understand the questions. Then they
will watch the video,

● After teacher try to elicit the
topic by asking question

While-Lesson Stage ● Teacher will give students the 15 min.
worksheet and direct them to task 1.
Give them a time limit of two minutes
to scan the text in task 1 and answer
the questions. (What is nomophobia
and what many people think about cell
phones?)
● Then, students read the text again in
more detail. They could work in pairs
to underline the information and say
each one refers to.

Cell Phone Addiction

Nomophobia is the fear of being without your smartphone and it affects 40% of the
population. The phones have become not just an object, and it is also the best friend
for many people. Many people suffer from anxiety when they lose their phone only
for a few minutes.

At the dinner table, it's becoming the normal to check texts, emails, tweets and
Facebook posts. In these times, people sleep with their phones and wake up with
them. And many people think "I must always have my phone with me" and it has
become such a real problem, this problem is known as nomophobia.

Today, people don't talk to friends or family and they always spend time with their
mobile phones. Overuse of your cell phone or smartphone can cause a number of
different physical problems that may cause permanent damage or be difficult to treat.
Some of them are eye and neck problems, depression and sleep problems.
