2. The locating engineer at a railroad curve runs a

6 degrees curve to the PCC 300 m long from the
PC of the compound curve. From the PCC a 1
degree 40 minutes curve run towards to the PT
600 m long. Use arc basis.

Determine the following:

a. It is required to determine the length of the long
chord connecting the PC and PT
b. Angle between the long chord and the first
tangent
c. Angle between the long chord and the second
tangent

1. Two tangents that intersects at an angle of 40 degrees 0.5*SN

minutes are to be connected by a compound curve consisting of a 3
degrees curve and a 4 degrees curve. If the tangent at the beginning
of the tangent is 90+0.8*SN m long, determine the following:
a. Central angle of the first curve
b. Central angle of the second curve
c. Length of the tangent from the end of the 4 degrees curve to the
point of intersection of the tangents.

2. The common tangent of a compound curve makes angle of

(10+0.5*S) degrees ad (20+0.4*SN) degrees with the tangent of the
first curve and second curve respectively. The length of the chord
from the PC to PCC is (50+SN) m and from PCC to PT is (30+SN) m.
Determine the following:
a. Length of chord from the PC to PT if it is parallel to the common
tangent
b. Radius of the first curve
c. Radius of the second curve
