CHAPTER 2: The Study of Law

I. Reasons and and implications to study law

They are varied reasons in taking up law as why a person is taking up the course. It
may be a childhood dream of becoming a lawyer. While other is for the reason for
Professional Advancement as one of the requirements for promotion as it needs
further studies. Some only follow the wishes of their parents or other influential
members of the family

How ever the implications of studying law under the second and third reason is these
people are the probable failure in the Bar Examination even if they do they will unlikely
to succeed in their career upon passing the bar examination.

What ever the reason behind a student’s enrollment in the college of law is already
been set aside once her is already in the battle.As we all know that entering law
school requires your full devotion to course “Law may be regarded as a jealous and
very demanding mistress that if you take it for granted it would definitely leave you”.

II. Basic Skills and quantities required in the study of law

Dreams and Ambitions, the dreams of becoming a lawyer is a a fuel for taking the
day-to-day task in school. Becoming a lawyer must be a wholehearted decision for
there is no place for half-hearted decision in law school. Second is perseverance and
patience, one must be prepared to make adjustment to his schedule and exert a full
concentration, it will definitely bring him to the ladder of success

Dean Fortunato Gupin’s “How to be a Lawyer” maintains the basic tools one must
have to study law and pass the bar examination are the so called “3 L’s” - Language,
Logic & Law. Language is the instrument by which you understand, analyze and
express the law. Logic is accurately evaluate a certain state of facts using logic
analysis and lastly the Law continue to abreast yourself with the current laws and
jurisprudence in the country
III. Study Law, a serious matter
With the above mentioned discussion, studying law school is not an easy task but
rather a serious and difficult matter that entails great sacrifice, efforts and expense.
However a student mus be thorough and conscientious, be prepared to exert effort to
pass the course and the bar.
