Aim: To study the soldering techniques.

Principle:
Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by
melting and then flowing a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a
relatively low melting point. The material to be soldered is heated with soldering
iron and then solder is melted into the connection.

Theory:
Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by
melting & then flowing a filter metal into the joint filter metal having a
relatively low melting point. The metal to be soldered is heated with soldering
iron & then solder is melted into the connection.
Firstly we take the two metals which we have to join together.then connect the
ends of metals to each other & then flow a filter metal between the joint of two
metals.the filter metal which is taken should have to low melting point. There
are two types of soldering
Soft soldering usually contains high amount of soft metals like tin ,lead .the
purpose of soft solder is to bridge a gap .
Hard soldering connect two pieces of metal by expanding into the pores
opened by high temperature.hard solders are made of high temperature metal
with a small amount of tin to lower the melting temperature. As long at a hard
solder joint I produced with borax or yellow uchre, the melting point of the joint
metal will rise with each successive heating.

Case Study:
In this study we will use soldering to mount the components like capacitors,
LEDs, resistors, and transistors and make proper electrical contact with the
copper board.

Procedure:
1. At First take the two metals which we have to join.

2. Then connect the ends of metals to each other and then flow a filler metal
between the joint of two metals.

3. The filler metal which is taken should have a low melting point.
Advantages:
1.Low temperature: Since the base metal does not have to melt, a low-temp
heat source can be used.

2.Metals of dissimilar can be joined

3.Less chance of damaging parts

4.Speed of joining

5.Parts of varying thickness can be joined.

6.Easy realignment

Applications:
1. Solder is used to bond metal work pieces together and its applications are
extensive.
2. Soldering is commonly used in electronics, air conditioning, mechanical
fire sprinkler and other similar systems as well as radiator manufacturing,
repair and sheet metal work.
3. It is also used in jewelry and stained-glass work.
Conclusion:
Soldering is an important technique to join two metals. It has a great importance
in the field of electronics and communication systems. In our case we used the
soldering technique to successfully mount the various electrical component and
ensuring proper electrical contact between them. It helped us a lot in making the
circuitry of our night lamp.
