1. Parent letter that will be given the first week of school
2. Parent-teacher communications
Each Friday I will send out a Weekly Newsletter that will include information about the
following weeks instruction, homework, and important dates. This will have an area that
students and parents can write comments on that will then be returned to me. Through
including this, I am offering parents the opportunity to stay informed in their child’s
education while enabling them to have conversations with me. I will also attach any notes
I have for the parents and work the students have completed that week (tests, quizzes,
projects, etc.). This will allow the parents to understand how their student is performing
on a weekly manner.
3. Communication skills for addressing student conflict:
After listening to Emily Deen discuss her classroom management techniques and
working in my Kindergarten practicum class, I have decided to handle student conflict
with warm demanders. This will allow me to approach my students with a caring attitude
that shows them I have their best interest at heart. I plan to ask questions empathetically
that will force my students to critically think about their actions and their consequences.
The students can manifest a growth mindset by understanding the need for mutual respect
and the idea that failure is not an option only a learning opportunity. By applying this
technique, my students will thrive in my growth mindset classroom that stresses the
importance of respect for others and positive behavior.
