(3Rs)
Objectives
(1) Know the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle;
(2) Understand that reducing, reusing and recycling can
save resources and reduce burden on students, school
personnel and local authorities in collection,
transportation and disposal of waste;
(3) Suggest ways to reduce, reuse and recycle materials at
school and at home;
(4) Implement actions to reduce, reuse and recycle
materials at school and at home.

• Mechanics:
– A question will be flashed on the screen.
– A thinking time of 10 seconds will be given.
– Each participant will answer the question by
standing, if their answer is YES. Otherwise, the
participant will remain seated.
– A fact and a myth related to the question will be
flashed as the participants settle down.
– A short discussion follows every after round.

• Mechanics:
– Each group will be given collected trash (Assume
that the trash collected was generated by one
section in just one school day)
– The group will segregate the trash
– The group will weigh each classification and then
fill out the given worksheet
– Each group will be given at most two minutes to
report their findings to the large group

Recycling Relay
• Goal:
– Place the most number of images on the correct side
(recyclable or trash) within two minutes
• Situation:
– Each group should have 5 representatives forming a
line
• Standards:
– Facilitators will give the images one by one from one
end of the line after the signal “GO”
– Each representative must pass the image in some
way other than how they got it

• Mechanics:
– the famous 1993 song “Masdan Mo ang
Kapaligiran” by Asin will be played three times
– the groups will analyze the lyrics and discuss
which part or parts of the song stuck them and
how it is still relevant today
– each participant must make a personalized
pledge indicating concrete action on how one
can contribute for a greener school community
