Tips For Washing Linen Clothes Properly

People appreciate linen dresses for many thousands of years. Made from the fibers of the flax plant
linen is a natural cloth. It has several positive properties that build linen garments fashionable among
folks of various ages, nationalities, and statuses. Linen cloth breathes well; it's stronger than cotton cloth
and harder to weave, which makes linen a pricier cloth to create into garments and other home textiles
such as linen, linen tablecloths, and linen towels. Linen dyes well with different colors and can be
blended with other materials, which may impact the ways of care the piece of clothing will require. The
method you’ll wash linen garments will depend upon several factors.

As we continuously say – initial check the laundry instructions on the label before you wash your linen
clothing. Although all pure linen dresses, tunics, trousers, etc. can be washed in a very washer, other
materials used for sewing, trim or lining may need dry cleaning. Ignoring or being unaware of that advice
can ruin your garment.

Washing Linen Clothes


1. Always wash your linen garments on your machine’s mild cycle. If it is possible to select the
water level in the washing machine, always use the maximum offered. Your clothing should
move freely.
2. Do not crowd the washer with too several things quickly. This can cause twisting or pulling the
linen material out of form.
3. Make sure any other items in the washing machine are similar to your linen clothes in terms of
color, weight, and washing instructions.
4. If you hand wash linen clothes, only use a gentle swishing motion – never wring, twist or scrub
the fabric. Hand laundry is suggested for garments that are not heavily dirty, or for linen fabric
with a loose weave, which might be damaged during a wash in a washing machine.
5. Linen garments as all alternative linen home textile must be washed in lukewarm temperatures
– ne'er in cold or hot. Does linen shrink? Yes, it does, especially if you wash it in too hot
temperatures (above 40C is not recommended). If your linen dress were sold as not prewashed
expect that they will shrink a bit after first wash no matter what water temperature you use.
6. Use solely a gentle detergent for laundry and ensure that each one of its utterly rinsed from the
piece of wear before drying.
7. If your linen dresses are pre-washed during its making process, then dry it in a tumble dryer.
Make the drying temperature low and take away the garment while it's still slightly damp.
8. Always try to dry your linen clothes flat. Hangers or clothespins can cause marks on the fabric
and cause deformation of the garment.
9. If there is a need for ironing, iron your linen dress while slightly damp.
