HYDRAULICS

HYDRAULICS IS A TOPIC IN APPLIED SCIENCE AND

ENGINEERING DEALING WITH MECHANICAL
PROPERTIES OF LIQUIDS.

FLUID MECHANICS PROVIDES THE THEORITICAL

FOUNDATION FOR HYDRAULICS .

HYRAULICS IS USED FOR:

GENERATION,CONTROL AND TRANSMISSION OF
POWER BY THE USE OF PRESSURISED LIQUIDS.
Fluid - can be almost any liquid. The most common hydraulic fluids contain
specially compounded petroleum oils.

Reservoir - acts as a storehouse for the fluid and a heat dissipater.

Hydraulic pump - converts the mechanical energy into hydraulic energy .

Fluid lines - transport the fluid to and from the pump through the hydraulic
system.

Hydraulic valves - control pressure, direction and flow rate of the

hydraulic fluid.

Actuator - converts hydraulic energy into mechanical energy to do work.

Hydraulic cranes are some of the most popular cranes in
use; they are widely used in construction applications.
Hydraulic cranes are a type of crane that uses hydraulics
instead of cables to raise and lower workload.
PRINCIPLE

Pascal's Law, framed by Blaise Pascal, states

that “Pressure applied to any part of a confined
fluid transmits to every other part with no loss.
The pressure acts with equal force on all equal
areas of the confining walls and perpendicular to
the walls." This is the basic principle for any
hydraulic system
