Time Allocation : Once Meeting (80 minutes)

Skill : Speaking.
Theme : Objects.

Descriptive text is used to make good interaction with teachers and friends.
● Generic Structures

Identification : introduction of the object or thing to be described.

Description : information about the characteristics of objects, for example the


psychological characteristics of behavior, physical appearance,
and others specifically

● Grammar

Descriptive text usually uses the following linguistic elements:

Noun : specific nouns, for example my best friend, my dog, Borobudur


Temple, and others. In addition, sometimes also use nouns that
get adjectives, for example an intelligent student and a big garden.

Simple present tense : use the first form of verbs (verb1) and also verbs that can
describe the state of the object or imply ownership, for example
my house has 2 living rooms, Sinta is beautiful, and others.

Adjective : an adjective used to describe an object.

Example :

My Laptop

I have a laptop. My father bought it for me last month. The performance of this laptop is

great.

It is a nice laptop with black color. It has a 14 inch screen. This is the latest product from

Asus. I can play games that require high specification using it. I can also play music, watch

movies and draw using it. And the most important thing is that I can typing using it. So, if I have

the assignment from my teacher, it will help me. I also can find many references from internet

using my laptop.

I really like this new laptop. Because it always helpful to me in various situations.

● Teacher greets the students and asks about their conditions. “Good
morning” and “How are you today”.
● Teacher asks one of the students to lead their friends to pray before start
the lesson. “Okay friends, before we start our lesson, let’s pray to our
God, begin ... Finish.”
● The teacher checks the students’ attendance and calls the students’ name
one by one.
● The teacher gives apperception to students in order to see their general
knowledge related to the materials that will be taught.
● Brainstorming in the form of questions in accordance with the material
to be delivered.
● The teacher explains the materials and learning activities according to
syllabus.

● The teacher gives apperception to students in order to see their general
knowledge related to the materials that will be taught.
Motivation

● Gives overview about benefits of learning the materials.


● Tells the learning objectives when during the meeting.

● With the guidance of the teacher, students observe a video which show
the use of expression to describe things.

Core- ● With the guidance of the teacher, students learn the examples of the use 60 minutes

● With the guidance of the teacher, students dig up information by asking

● With the guidance of the teacher, students practice using the sentence
pattern that used for expressions to describe things.

● With the guidance of the teacher, students practice Playing Guess Game
by using Charades! Pictures.app on mobile phone.

1. Divide students in several groups (max 4 students/group) then one of


them should guess the object that the rest of her/his friend in the group
will describe without telling the name of the object. They can guess the
object as much as possible.
2. If they unable to guess the object, they can switch they role.

For example :
If the object that shows on phone is a book.

Students 1 can tell:


Identification : we always bring it everyday at school

Students 2, 3, can tell:


Description : it has square form, we can write down our lesson on it, it is
composite of paper sheets .
Student 4 can mention the object that he thought was being described

Practicing

● Teachers give some simple questions related to the material.

● Teacher give 30 minutes for students to composing their descriptive text


for objects then deliver it in front of the class by speech.

Reflection

1) Teacher and students do reflection to the learning-teaching process and the


advantages.

Post- 2) Teacher checks students’ assignments.


Activity 3) The students are requested to give their opinion about the learning-teaching
process.
4) Teacher asks students what their get during the learning-teaching process

Closing

1. Teacher makes summary / re-explain about the topic today.


2. Teacher gives information about the next material that will be taught in
the next meeting.

1. Prepare your descriptive text in 30 minutes about one object that you can find around
by following the generic structure, and grammar. Then deliver it in front of the class.
